What keeps you up at night?




Here is what I share with clients that are pretty entrenched in the status quo or "all set" as a cautionary note. What are the numbers saying? What are you doing to stay ahead of the game?

If someone, somewhere is developing something, that will do the following to your sales, as it did to newspaper advertising revenue, will this keep you up night, and day?

What keeps you up at night?
Why don't you do this to your competition, before the competition disrupts your revenue stream that you worked very hard to build??

Think about the railroad vs the transportation business, video on demand vs content for rent. What business are you really in? What are your customers really paying for?

What business are you really in?

Disruption does not have to be technology based, it needs to be a game changer though.

Are the following scenarios keeping you up at night?


Scenario A - You have cut all the expenses "to the bone", yet profitability is declining. You are about to retire in a few years, what can you do today to improve profitability and eventually your business value?  Are family members prepared to take over the business?

Scenario B - Sales growth is consistent, but your business is capturing less than the market growth, or worse still your market share is declining. Why? What can you do about it now?

Scenario C. - Sales is declining and so is profitability - what is happening? Have you identified the real problem to solve to improve the business and have it grow as you first envisioned when you started it?

So which of the following options will you pursue to "right the ship" you built ?


Each option will require a different set of strategies, tactics, progress measurement.  So before we jump into Google Adwords and Facebook, what is the real challenge your business is facing? How do you know?
